Here and elsewhere,Penny's hair salon always cuts your hair their way, not what you ask for. Even with a picture in hand they say oh yes ,ok. But they destroy it. Three times, three states! Never again.

DON'T GO HERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR HAIR STYLE! The girl cutting my hair was horrible. She didn't listen to what I wanted, didn't seem to know how to handle longer hair (mid-back) and cutt off WAY more than I asked for. Additionally, the stylists are supposed to STYLE after cutting. She didn't even make an attempt to do so until I had already put my part back in using my hands! I have been going to "cheap" cut places for years and they have always paid more attention to me and to my hair than this place. And as I looked around, it felt like this was the norm - get them in and get them out as quickly as possible and charge as much as possible for the least amount of work. It has been 2 weeks and I still feel robbed, both of the hair length that I spent years growing and of the money I spent for this violation. DON'T GO HERE!

I just relocated a few months ago to the Del Rio, Texas area, and was in need of a haircut. I have the kind of hair that is fine, long, and is worn in a layered style (long graduation is what they call it) that if not cut properly, shows every little mistake til it grows out or just plain hangs wierd. I had a gift card left from Christmas time and figured I'd give the J.C. Penney's salon a try. Not only did they get me right in that day, but they allowed me to use my gift card as well. The stylist took a look at some pictures I showed her, as well as my hair which I had attempted to cut myself just a few days prior. She did a great job of trimming my ends in back evenly and STRAIGHT across, which believe it or not some people have a hard time doing. In addition she not only cleaned up the layers I cut myself, but also re-shaped it a bit while still achieving the overall look I was going for. It actually has a lot more style to it now and looks even better than I hoped. I moved here from a major city and in all my years there NEVER got a cut this good. This is arguably the best haircut I've ever had. Bottom line she did EXACTLY what I wanted, and left my ordinarily long, limp hair looking very updated and polished. You ladies with straight fine hair know how hard that can be to achieve on certain hair texture. Ask for Ruth, she is terrific and I plan to go back to have her do my color ;)
